New Ofcom guidance

Ofcom have issues new guidance on broadband information. Under new Ofcom guidance, broadband providers must be clear to people who are signing up to a contract what type of network technology they will be using. They must

  • give a short description of the network technology using clear terms such as “cable”, “copper”, “full-fibre” or “part-fibre”
  • not use the term “fibre” on its own
  • give a more thorough explanation of the technology, for example through a link, so consumers can understand what it means to them

Being digitally connected is now an essential part of daily life and many of our clients are disadvantaged if they are considered digitally excluded and pay more for goods and services as a result. The affordability and effectiveness of a households broadband is important and that is why we are welcoming these changes.

If you are struggling with the costs of broadband connection or other communications devices contact our team who will be happy to check if your contract is fair or if you qualify for a social tariff.
